Who says you have to live in the south to make great BBQ? Not Bud!
Bud’s Bar-B-Que is named after the late Bud Rogers. Bud was born in 1943 and raised in Burnaby, B.C., Canada. He moved to Pitt Meadows, B.C., in 1978, where he raised his family and resided until he passed away in 2010.
Bud was a huge fan of Southern blues music, and he encouraged and supported his son, James, in his music career. From the mid-1990s to 2010, Bud joined his son on tour several times in the Southern United States—where he fell in love with Southern barbecue.
James toured for many years with B.B. King’s bass player Russell Jackson and has been smoking Southern barbecue and perfecting various custom rubs and sauces since. James learned many secret tips and tricks over a few decades of hanging with many great Southern-barbecue pit masters. Today James continues to play blues music locally and on tour and has a smoker going every week, cooking a variety of Southern-style meats.
One of Bud’s favourite sauces is now available for you to enjoy. So the next time you grab that plateful of ribs, you’ll be saying—as Bud’s granddaughter says—“Sauce me.”

A key step in successful BBQ is having the right rub and the right sauce for the meat you are cooking. Over the years, one sauce, what we now call Bud's Bar-B-Que Sauce, is the recipe that always found its way to the table. Whether I was smoking ribs, pulled pork, brisket or just grilling some burgers this sauce was the 'go to' sauce for my family and friends. This recipe was my dads favorite of all. He always joked I should take this sauce to market. Well, the time is right for me and thanks to the support of my family this sauce is now going to market.

James 'Buddy' Rogers has been playing blues for 25+ years. James began touring the southern USA in 1995 with former BB King bassist Russell Jackson. The band toured extensively throughout North America for many years and during this time James fell in love with southern style BBQ. Over many years of touring James learned about the process and tools required to make this BBQ from many great pit masters in many different states.
For over 20 years James has been smoking his own BBQ and has used all of the smoker types out there from charcoal, gas to pellet smokers. Currently James' main smoker is a Yoder pellet smoker. One of the things pit masters will tell you is that they have an amazing rub, marinade or sauce that they have developed over the years. James is no stranger to this.
